Categorías de distribución
Las tres categorías principales de distribución con que se identifican los documentos y las actas de las sesiones en series básicas de signaturas son las siguientes:a) Distribución general. En el centro de distribución, estos documentos se entregan a la prensa, público y a quienes participan oficialmente en la reunión. Son documentos básicos y actas finales de las sesiones, con programas, estudios e informes, comunicaciones de los Gobiernos y resoluciones aprobadas y otras decisiones de los órganos principales.
b) Distribución limitada. Son principalmente proyectos de texto (por ejemplo, resoluciones, enmiendas, informes provisionales) que pueden sustituirse por textos finales o reproducirse selectivamente en los Documentos Oficiales, y otros materiales de interés momentáneo (como listas provisionales de miembros, programas provisionales, programas de reuniones), que pueden o no reproducirse en los informes. La distribución se limita principalmente a los participantes en la reunión, en el centro de distribución, con una mínima distribución externa. Los documentos de esta categoría están numerados L.1, L.2, etc.
c) Distribución reservada. Los documentos y las actas de sesiones de distribución reservada se entregan sólo a los miembros del órgano que los publica.No están destinados a la prensa ni al público, ni para distribución o consulta. Los documentos pueden ser proyectos de informes o comunicaciones confidenciales y, en general, están numerados R.1, R.2, etc. Las actas de las sesiones que no se abren a la prensa ni al público son de distribución reservada.
Elementos de las signaturas
a) En una signatura, además de indicarse el órgano principal o el órgano subsidiario que efectúa la publicación, hay otros elementos que pueden indicar el carácter del documento, a saber,

b) Las modificaciones al texto de un documento principal o un acta de una sesión se efectúan publicando documentos secundarios —adiciones, revisiones y correcciones— que se identifican añadiendo uno de los siguientes elementos a la signatura principal:
